Hawk Warrior, a 2-year-old son of A. P. Warrior, became the fourth winner for his sire with a debut victory at Tokyo Racecourse on Nov. 1. The bay colt won by a head over a sloppy main track at the “about” seven furlong distance, earning $86,989.
After posting the quickest work at the training preview show for the Barretts selected sale for 2-year-olds this past spring, Hawk Warrior sold for $335,000 to current owner Masamichi Hayashi when he went through the sales ring on Mar. 22.
Hawk Warrior is out of the mare Girl Gone Crazy, making him a half-sister to She's Our Annie, a three-time stakes winner. Girl Gone Crazy is half-sister to the stakes winner Devils Disciple, who ran second in the Hopeful S. (G1) at Saratoga. Hawk Warrior was bred in Florida by Destiny Oaks.
A. P. Warrior is the only son of A.P. Indy at stud to win graded stakes on both dirt and turf. He entered stud in 2007, with his first crop of foals being 2-year-olds of 2010. His four winners to date include the stakes winning filly Faisca.
