Always a Princess rules Indiana Oaks (G2)

In a dominating performance that made her rivals look like commoners, Always a Princess remained undefeated in 2010, winning the $200,000 Indiana Oaks (G2) by 3 ¼ lengths.

The chestnut filly from the first crop by Champion Leroidesanimaux (Brz) took charge of the Oaks soon after the break, and set all the fractions over the sloppy surface. Rider Martin Garcia asked for her run when they came into the stretch, and she exploded, lengthening her stride with every leap and drawing off at the wire. She earned a gaudy 101 Beyer for the performance.

Always a Princess races for her breeder Arnold Zetcher, and has compiled a record of 5-3-1-0 and $304,889 for trainer Bob Baffert. As a 2-year-old, she ran second to champion pro tem Blind Luck in the Oak Leaf S. (G1), and then fifth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1), her only off the board finish.

Leroidesanimaux has sired five Group/Graded stakes horses from his first two crops, more than any other second crop sire in Florida, and fourth best among all second crop sires in North America.
