Animal Kingdom, a 2-year-old colt by Leroidesanimaux, proved much the best in a nine furlong contest for maidens at Keeneland on Oct. 23, winning easily by 3 1/4-lengths in his second career start.
Ridden by Robby Albarado for owner/breeder Team Valor International, stalked the pace in second for the first six furlongs, went to the lead at the top of the stretch, then pulled away from the field of 12 to win in 1:49.01 over the Polytrack. He earned an 84 Beyer Speed Figure.
Animal Kingdom is the first foal out of his German-bred dam Dalicia, who earned nearly $200,000 in her career. He has now earned $33,800. The Wayne Catalano trainee was second in his debut at Arlington on Sept. 18.
Leroidesanimaux has sired five Group/Graded stakes horses from his first two crops, more than any other second crop sire in Florida, and fourth best among all second crop sires in North America.
