Second-crop sire Value Plus racked up his 14th winner when Stay Hip broke his maiden by four lengths at Philadelphia Park on May 4.
Stay Hip, a gray or roan like his sire, is out of the Honour and Glory mare Race to Glory. At Philadelphia Park, Stay Hip broke very sharply in the six furlong race and was up three lengths after a quarter-mile. He widened his lead to five lengths coming into the stretch, and won in hand.
Stay hip is owned Acclaimed Racing Stable and trained by Scott Lake.
Value Plus had a very good 2009, with 18 first-crop winners, putting him in seventh place on the year-end Kentucky first crop sire list. With 14 winners already this year, he is sure to far surpass last year's total.
