It's anybody's guess when ALL the bettors at Laurel Park are going to catch on to Aquitania. The 3-year-old daughter of Leroidesanimaux won her third straight race and fourth in her last five on Oct. 3, and those who kept the faith have cashed in nicely.
When Aquitania won three races back, she paid $12.40. When she made it two in a row she paid $20.60, and her latest score was worth $15.40 at the mutuel windows. Aquitania came from mid-pack to win an allowance optional claimer with a purse of $33,000 by nearly six lengths. She made an explosive move into the stretch and drew away easily in a sharp 1:10.16 for the six furlongs. The winner's share of $18,800 increased her bank account to $63,927 in just seven starts.
