Making her first appearance in a stakes race, Awesome Fire came from well back in the pack and finished a fast-closing third in the $150,000, 1 1/16-mile Ontario Lassie over the all-weather surface at Woodbine on Dec. 3. Chantal Sutherland was aboard the 2-year-old Strong Contender filly, who collected $14,715 for her effort. She's 2-1-1 in five starts with earnings of $93,861, all of it coming since Aug. 8.
