Beach Lightning broke her maiden at Calder Casino and Race Course on Sept. 29 by nearly 13 lengths, going wire-to-wire under J. L. Alvarez. The 3-year-old Greatmess filly was six lengths in front in mid-stretch of the 5-furlong race and widened the lead without the need of urging.
