Despite having problems at the break, Big Max scored a three-length victory racing a flat mile on the main track on Oct. 31. The 4-year-old Kentucky-bred son of Unforgettable Max was forced to steady at the start, made a bold four-wide move toward the top after half a mile, opened up by four lengths after three-quarters, and increased it to eight in the stretch. With the victory in hand, he coasted to the wire clocked in 1:39.05, posting his fourth victory of 2011.
