Burning Time unleashed a powerful stretch run from seventh place in mid-stretch to get up for second in the $100,000 Arthur I. Appleton Juvenile Turf Stakes at Calder Race Course on Nov. 12. The 2-year-old colt by Burning Roma had been bumped at the start, then was forced extremely wide coming into the stretch, yet still finished strongly to miss catching Italo by less than a length. Burning Time, owned by his breeder, Harold Queen, collected $20,000 for the effort and increased his total to $117,360.
Earlier this summer, Burning Time won the mile and 70-yard Foolish Pleasure Stakes by 2 1/2 lengths and was second in the Seacliff Stakes. The Florida-bred colt sports a record of 2-2-0 in six starts.
