Eclipse champion Leroidesanimaux (Brz) got his first winner from his debut crop at stud on July 6th when his 2-year-old colt Marfach captured a maiden race at Roscommon racecourse in Ireland.
Racing over heavy ground, Marfach forged to the lead late in the seven-furlong heat to win by 1 ¼ lengths, stopping the timer in 1:41.64. He was making his second start following a runner-up finish in his debut at Gowran Park on June 21st.
Bred in Kentucky by Richard Tod Beckett, Marfach is out of the stakes-producing mare Rhondaling (GB) and is a half-brother to Eclipse champion and multiple Grade 1-winning millionaire Gourmet Girl. He is trained by European conditioner Jim Bolger and owned by Ennistown Stud.
A son of Candy Stripes, Leroidesanimaux was a three-time Grade 1 winner and two-time course record-setter on the track. He earned Eclipse Turf Male honors in 2005 before retiring to stud at Stonewall Farm Stallions, where he stood in 2009 for a fee of $17,500.
