Clever Performance lived up to his name at Tampa Bay Downs on Jan. 21, winning by 1 3/4 lengths with a mile and 40 yards in 1:42.01. With Ademar Santos riding, the 4-year-old Da Stoops gelding stalked the leader in second place, took over going to the three-quarters and increased the advantage to the wire.

In his first start of 2012, Clever Performance raised his record to 6-3-5 in 21 starts, picking up $7,400 for the victory.
