Millionaire and multiple Grade 1 winner Cocoa Beach (Chi) returned to the winner’s circle August 5th with a win in the $70,000 De La Rose S. at Saratoga.

By Doneraile Court, the bay is a 5-year-old mare by North American standards but was born in Chile and is a Southern Hemisphere 4-year-old in 2009. Whether you consider her four or five, Cocoa Beach is one of the most accomplished fillies or mares in the world. She now owns 10 wins from 14 starts with earnings of nearly $1.7 million for her owner Godolphin Stable, which acquired the classy Cocoa Beach following her championship campaign as a juvenile in her native country.

She also claimed a championship as the top 3-year-old filly last year in Dubai after winning the UAE 1000 Guineas and UAE Oaks by a combined 11 ¼ lengths before facing the boys and finishing third in the UAE Derby (G2).

Trained by Saeed bin Suroor, Cocoa Beach came to the States last summer and won three of four starts in stakes company, including the Beldame (G1) on dirt and the Matriarch (G1) on turf. In between, she ran gallantly on the Polytrack at Santa Anita when finishing second in the Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic (G1).

Her De La Rosa win Wednesday was at a mile on the turf, which she completed in 1:34.95 on firm ground and earned a 97 Beyer Speed Figure.
