Value Plus progeny have been on a roll of late, winning four races in the past six days. The 9-year-old Stonewall sire racked up two more winners on May 20, led by Fly Boy's maiden-breaking victory at Hollywood Park.
Three-year-old Fly Boy went postward the 3-5 favorite in the 5 1/2-furlong sprint. He got locked into a speed duel for the first half-mile, but asserted himself in the stretch, pulling away for a 1 1/2-length score. The gray or roan now sports a 1-2-0 record from four starts, earning $21,680.
Fly Boy was purchased by Dennis O'Neill at the 2009 Barretts March 2-year-olds in training sale. He is trained by Dennis' brother Doug. Fly Boy is out of the winning mare Emeraldforalady, who is a half-sister to the Grade 1 winner Sr. Pete Cabello.
