Good New Shoes broke his maiden in his fifth career start, going wire-to-wire in a $50,000 claimer at Fair Grounds on Jan. 13. The 3-year-old colt by A. P. Warrior was much the best in the 1 1/16-mile race, turning it on in the stretch and drawing off to score by 4 1/4 lengths. The Kentucky-bred collected $16,608 for the victory, achieved in 1:46.29.
