Hidden Value, a 3-year-old daughter of Value Plus, made her stakes debut with a third-place finish in the Apr. 29 Edgewood at Churchill Downs to kick off the Derby weekend of stakes racing action.

Value Plus currently ranks tenth on the North American second-crop sire list. Hidden Value is his third stakes-placed horse of 2010, following in the footsteps of All Due Respect, second in the Santa Anita Oaks (G1), and Our Champion, third in the Palm Beach S. (G3T).

In the Edgewood, Negligee was the heavy 4-5 favorite, but it was Hidden Value away from the gate quickly in the 1 1/16-mile turf affair. She opened up a couple length lead on the backstretch, but was unable to hold off the charge of eventual winner Dynazaper and Negligee. Hidden Value easily held the show spot on a a tiring turf course that has played against front-runners in the first week of the Churchill Downs spring meet.

Hidden Value has faced some tough fillies in her young career, going up against the likes of Hot Dixie Chick, Tidal Pool, and Ailalea; the latter two are in the Apr. 30 Kentucky Oaks (G1).

Hidden Value has been through the Keeneland auction ring on three separate occasions, most recently in April of 2009 at the 2-year-olds in training sale. She is out of the mare Raw Gold a multiple-graded stakes winner who bankrolled over a half-million dollars. Raw Gold is the dam of Kadira, by Kafwain, winner of three stakes and $176,525.
