Impact Tool made a major impact in a maiden race in the mud at Camarero Race Track in Puerto Rico on Jan. 16. The 3-year-old colt, who had recorded a second and three thirds in his first five starts, was sent off as the 2/5 favorite in a field of six in the 6 1/2-furlong race.

The son of Burning Roma, bred by Hidden Point Farm in Florida, sat in fifth place early, then exploded going to the half, opening up a three-length lead in the stretch and extending it to eight at the wire.
