Jenny's So Great posted the second fastest clocking in the eight years of the Lightning City Stakes on Dec. 3, coming from ninth place in an 11-horse field to win the $75,000 feature on opening day at Tampa Bay Downs. The 4-year-old daughter of Greatness, bred in Ontario by singer David Cassidy of Partridge Family fame, split horses in mid-stretch and blew by the leaders to win by a length. She was clocked in a sizzling :56.02 for the five furlongs over Tampa's superb turf course.
Rosemary Homeister Jr. was aboard the filly in the jockey's victorious return to racing after taking a long layoff to have a baby. Jenny's So Great earned $45,000 for her seventh career victory in 23 starts, and her bank account soared to $606,875. The filly has competed in 15 stakes, compiling a record of four victories, three seconds and one third.
