Making just his third career start since debuting on Mar. 26, Leroy's Dynameaux was third, beaten less than one length, in the Alcatraz S. at Golden Gate Fields. The 1 1/16-mile grass race also marked a pair of firsts for the son of Leroidesanimaux: first time going two turns and against stakes competition.
The Alcatraz was a wildly run race where Excessive Passion was on top by some eight lengths after a half-mile due to Our Mine Sweeper blowing the first turn, leaving Leroy's Dynameaux in a group of several horses trailing the loose leader. The complexion of the race quickly change nearing the far turn when the leader slowed noticeably. Leroy's Dynameaux shot up the inside to assume a slim lead around the turn. Meanwhile, two others joined the fray to make it four across the track in the stretch. The quartet battled to the wire with “Leroy” hanging on gamely for third, just a nose out of second and another three-quarters of a length to the winner Hudson Landing.
Leroy's Dynameaux is now 1-1-1 in three starts. He has earned $42,800. The other part of Leroy's moniker comes from his dam Dyna Peak. She has produced the four-time stakes winning filly Dyna Da Wyna, her most notable score coming in the Valley View S. (G3) at Keeneland. All six of Dyna Peak's foals have at least one win to their credit.
The dark bay or brown Leroy's Dynameaux is owned by his breeder Ellenay Racing Inc. and trained by Mark Glatt.
