Despite being floated out five wide on the turn, Monkey Chunky was able to mount a powerful run through the stretch, and was up at the wire to win a $100,000-$80,000 maiden claiming race at Monmouth Park on Oct. 23. The 3-year-old New Jersey-bred gelding by Greatness scored by a neck in 1:11.78 for the six furlongs and collected a check of $24,000 from the $40,000 purse.
