There were no trials or tribulations for Cape Tribulation in a $26,100 maiden special weights test at 4 1/2 furlongs on Dec. 11, and the son of Greatness broke his maiden in his sixth career start.
The 3-year-old Florida-bred gelding raced just off the pace three wide early, began to advance on the turn and slowly wore down the leaders in the final sixteenth to prevail by three-quarters of a length. Cape Tribulation was sent off as the 2-1 favorite and collected $15,600 for his first victory, achieved in :53.58.
