Conservative Value, bred by Stonewall and sired by their stallion Value Plus, was beaten just a half-length in his stakes debut, the $100,000 Bud Select Cradle S. on Sept. 6 at River Downs. The cradle was just the third lifetime start for the bay 2-year-old, who easily broke his maiden in the July 10 debut, then came back to be second in his first start around two turns on Aug. 14.
In the Cradle, contested at 1 1/16-miles on the grass, Conservative Value dueled through the first seven furlongs, putting away his foe only to be run down in the final stages while giving his best effort to comfortably hold the runner-up spot.
Conservative Value's record now stands at 1-2-0 in three starts, with earnings of $42,000 for owner Deerfield Farm Racing. He is trained by Tim Glyshaw.
Value Plus is a top 15 second-crop sire. He is represented by six stakes horses in 2010, led by the multiple graded stakes-placed filly All Due Respect.
