Remittance, a 3-year-old son of Stonewall stallion Unforgettable Max, broke his maiden in sharp fashion at Gulfstream Park on Mar. 18.
The maiden race was contested at 1 1/16-miles on the turf. Remittance was sent off as the 8-5 favorite in the 12-horse field, and was always prominently placed. He dueled for the lead with Montana Knight for almost a mile, then edged clear in the final sixteenth to win by ¾ of a length.
A bay colt, Remittance is trained by Todd Pletcher and owned by Paul Pompa, Jr., who owned 2008 Kentucky Derby (G1) winner when he made his racing debut.
