Eclipse Champion and Leading Freshman Sire Leroidesanimaux (Brz) got his seventh winner on Oct. 22nd when his 2-year-old filly Valsa rallied to defeat nine fillies in a $24,000 maiden special weight race at Laurel Park.

Making just her second start, Valsa overcame a wide trip to run past the leaders late and win by 1 ½ lengths going away. The final time for 5 ½ furlongs over a ‘good’ turf course was 1:05.61.

Trained by Richard Small, Valsa now owns a win to go along with a third-place showing in her debut for Huckleberry Farm. She was bred in Kentucky by Danny Turner & Sparks View Farm LLC from the stakes-winning Sentimental Slew mare Sentimental Tango.
